Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) combine the best of inflatable and rigid hull technologies. RIBs typically range from 2.5 to 18 meters in length and feature a solid hull, typically crafted from fiberglass, aluminum, or composite materials, complemented by inflatable tubes along the gunwales. The hull's design, often incorporating a deep-V shape at the bow transitioning to a flatter stern, optimizes hydrodynamics for superior handling and speed. The inflatable tubes, constructed from durable materials like Hypalon, PVC, or polyurethane, provide additional buoyancy and impact resistance.
This combination results in vessels that are lightweight yet robust, resulting in impressive speeds while maintaining stability and safety under various sea conditions.
Their popularity in recreational and leisure boating began to rise in the 1980s and 1990s as advances in materials and construction techniques improved their performance and durability. Since the early 2000s, RIBs are a favorite among many boaters for activities such as sport fishing, diving, and even luxury tenders for yachts, due to their versatility, speed, and ability to handle rough waters.

Our Sealogy BASIC Cover is a named Peril Cover. That means it provides insurance protection only against specific risks or "perils" explicitly listed in the policy and the Terms & Conditions. If a peril isn't named, it's not covered. For example, if your policy lists theft, grounding and collision as covered perils, then damage caused by any other event would not be covered. Our BASIC Cover is a cost effective way to protect against many of the most relevant risks for yacht owners. In some cases - mostly very special risks - BASIC Cover may be the only cover we can provide. Learn more about our Sealogy BASIC Cover for your yacht.
